Wellington weather

Wellington (NZ) has only two types of weather: (1) Sky is falling in: an image of a Triangle-person sleeping in bed, while outside the rain is pouring. The window is leaking slightly. (2) Lawnmowers: an image of a Triangle-person trying to sleep, covering their head with a pillow, while the sun is rising outside, and a merry person is seen lawnmowing outside of the window.

Wellington (NZ) has only two types of weather:

  1. Sky is falling in
  2. Lawnmowers

Due to the island nature of New Zealand and the influence of the Cook Strait, Wellington is known locally for its changeable weather. One day it could be very sunny and warm, but then it’s wise to expect rain the next day.

Wellington also has a wet climate without temperature extremes (sitting at Rome or Barcelona-type latitudes). This means plants typically have growth spurts 3 times a year, and lawns demand constant mowing over 10 months of the year.

Thus the comic depicts a fact of Wellington life - when the weather has been dry for two days, which is relatively rare especially on the weekend, everyone seems to jump out of their beds to mow the lawn in the morning.
